Craig Porter for Congress

Florida's 25th Congressional District

How am I qualified to be a Representative to the U. S. House?

I’ve never been an elected official to any government agency. I don’t have a college degree. I’m not wealthy and therefore must continue to work as I campaign for office. Are these the qualities of a successful candidate for office? Absolutely, definitely of course they are. I’ve voted in every election a could since the age of 18. So I don’t mind asking others to take the time to vote. I’ve worked my entire life because I”m able too and was taught by my parents to be self sufficient. I haven’t become wealthy but I don’t rely on others either. There is nothing wrong with being good at something and making a good or above average income and spending all of the money on yourself, saving it or giving it to whoever you want, your money, your choice. There is also an obligation by society, not by the government, to assist our neighbors that need a helping hand until they are able to help themselves. The only thing that would make me a better candidate is to have served in the Military which I did not. That may or may not be an issue if I was seeking to become the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, which I am not.

Here are some reasons why I am uniquely qualified. I am over the age of 25. I live in the district that I’m seeking office for. And that is all that is required. But in todays political world I have even more qualifications. I’ve never been an elected official to any government agency. I don’t have a college degree. I’m not wealthy and therefore must continue to work as I campaign for office. I’ve never been approached by a lobbyist, never been offered a deal for my vote, never voted on anything that affects millions of Americans that I haven’t read and understand. I have not signed an oath to a party so when I swear to uphold the Constitution I swear I will uphold the Constitution. When some one asks for my vote they better be able to explain it and write it in plain words that I can understand and can explain to other Americans without having to sound like a lawyer  or make stuff up. Because I don’t have a college degree.

I have to work in the community I wish to serve. I have to deal with the same sometimes abusive Government that everyone else does, and I know how it feels. I have to budget my money and control my spending with limited resources. I am a General Contractor and have to budget other peoples money and control the spending for asuccessful job outcome. I will do the same with the publics resource as as well as any one Representative is able to do. And I’ll let the people know when any one else isn’t doing the same so they can remove them from office if they so desire. Not all ellected Officials are prone to back room deals. I’m not part of the lobby culture and never intend to be.

So it seems I’m not just qualified as over 25 years of age and live in the district. I seems I’m over Qualified. But I still want the job. I still want to Restore the Republic with a Government by and forthe people. Vote Craig Porter 2010 for Congress.

  1. Seems like we come from the same background. Good luck and I wish you well with your candidacy.

  2. Robert Johnson says:

I would like to know what is meant when the web site says “illegal immigrants need be handled differently”. This is a huge problem in this district so I would like to know what the plan is. Any response would be greatly appreciated.
