ok OK, Abortion
It seems the question won’t stop coming. What are my views on abortion and why do you avoid the answer. Constituent for any district have an obligation to ask about what is important to them. So here it is. The question is what are your views on abortion. Ok. let me clarify the question. Should abortions be legal or illegal? Was Roe V. Wade a constitutional decision or should it be challenged? Should we pass an amendment to the Constitution to ban abortion? Does a woman have the right to choose? At what age do the parents have the right to be notified or the minor have the right to privacy? Near term or late term? How many should a person be allowed to have? Does a husand need to be notified? Should the federal government pay the bill? Should insurance companies be required to pay for the procedure? Should a womans health be considered? What about cases of rape or incest? Gay pregancies??? And so on and on and on.
My simple answer is of course….not…yes…no…maybe…??? Is that clear enough.
All of the people I talk with including me agree that they would prefer if abortions didn’t happen. We all prefer that all women only get pregant when they wanted to. And in some cases when they and their husbands wanted them to. So then we all really agree that we want women to choose when they have sex and we want women AND men tobe responsible with their lives and decisions enough that they won’t have to make a life and death decision about a ?Fetus , Child, Embryo, life, or not yet life? Most parents agree that they would not decide to end the life of their children until they become teenagers of couse. But that, fortunately is not an option.
There are lot of issues with abortion. The question should be discussed by the pregnant woman, any spouses, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, Doctors, Priests, Rabbis, close friends, schizophrenic alter egos. But really, could I, one of a limited few representatives, decide for hundreds of millions of Americans with a single decision of yes or no the best alternative in all cases for ever body with a questionable pregancy issue. Sounds like somebody is looking to pass the buck. Be responsible with your life is my answer to the abortion issue. Elect me to Restore the Republic not to dictate to you what’s right or wrong, moral or immoral or good or bad.
Craig I agree for the most part with your answer. I too touched on this subject on my web page. I feel also this is not a government issue for either State or Federal but a personal issue based on situation, morals, and personal religious beliefs.
So at what age does murder not equal murder? When your very young? When your very old? When your very ill? When your brain is under developed? Or is it just when those who have the responsibility to care for you decide they really don’t want to bother themselves with the responsibility of taking care of you!
Abortion conversations are the result of biology. One can not discuss this issue without addressing ALL the surrounding issues of sexual taboos, double standards, lack of education, awareness and open conversations, self discipline, free will, and responsibilities. A sex act that results in a pregnancy takes one male and one female of a sexual mature body. If one wants to demand that a crime is committed that results in an unwanted pregnancy then one will have to condemn and sentence at least one male and one female for that act. Because one female did not get pregnant alone; Look to the root causes and discuss those first. Craig Porter is right concerning his position on abortion as personal responsibility. Join a non-profit organization for abortion concerns.
