What Fuels Division?

Why are the people of this Country always so divided? We live in the same place. Most of us like similar things. There’s always the differences. Some people eat meat and some don’t, but we all eat. Some people drive cars others take public transports, some ride bikes while others walk, but we all need to get around somehow. One likes red and one likes blue.

So the arguments always come down to do we agree or disagree about what our elected legislatures are passing laws about and spending our money on. We tend to disagree about how much money the Government needs or takes from us. And if you disagree, who are you disagreeing with? That other party of course.

Isn’t it a little odd that we have party line votes on what to spend money on. But in the end we always seem to spend the money on something. Why can’t we just stop spending the money? Simple really. Most politicians want to be elected to do just that, spend the money. We the people are told it’s not good to spend the money on this when we should spend it on that. It doesn’t matter what you’re ever told, Washington always finds a way to spend a little more money even if we don’t have more. They’ve been doing it for 160 years.

So spending the money is the reward but how does the party keep it up at such a feverish pitch? How do they keep intelligent Americans so divided that we’ll blindly vote for anyone with a party letter next to their name? Simply put it’s done with mass marketing. They have branded names that they then send out with a message at all levels of the media. There is a large amount of money that goes into advertising. Millions and millions of dollars. Just think about your favorite TV host or show and your favorite radio host or program or show. They get a lot their money from the politics in Washington. Forget what they’ve told you for a minute and try to remember when was the last time that person of program or show has shown to you any one outside of the party they support. When have they given you information you didn’t have before to decide for yourself who you want to vote for that wasn’t a member of the party.

You can be certain that there is some one running for office in your district that isn’t a member of the party, and you haven’t heard about them. You haven’t heard because you didn’t go look on th elections website. You didn’t hear because the news paper, the TV news and the radio news has been eirily silent about them. They do this because the money of the party is their bread basket and they aren’t going to shoot themselves in the foot by mentioning to you some one that may be a viable candidate. That person may be a better candidate for the office they seek but they don’t have access to the money that the party does.

When your favorite host or show supports a party over the principle of the Constitution it keeps us the people divided. When they support a party over the value of a free republic and keep the people divided inside that party to head down the same road of over taxing and over spending, what do they really stand for? There is no reason to keep a person from pursuing happiness by making a profit but don’t be misled by the idea that making money and supporting a party are both forms of capitalism. The Constitution supports property and trade. Communism supports party rule. Which media celebrity do you know that supports party over principle?
